Motivation for poetry usually comes from the weather, people and things that I observe while going about my day. I write what comes to mind, and to be honest I should write more poetry. I have written a play called Alternate, about a woman who’s transported to another universe and I’m currently working on a novel called Eleanor Sometimes.
If I were to define a underlying motif for my jewelry, it would be romantic, with some Victorian and medieval inspiration. I make charms for necklaces, but I also make earrings and the occasional bracelet.
I’ve been drawing since I was little. My favorite subject in that medium is human figure. Painting came later, related to classes I took and better access to materials. My main interest in that medium is abstract and surrealist art. I started mixed media after moving to Chicago. I love incorporating different materials to my works, and I’m flexible to my approach. Some stories can be conveyed in one medium, but others need more. I don’t have a favorite theme in Mixed Media, but if I had to pick one it would be Surrealism.
I carry my camera with me, and I try to photograph whatever interests me. Geometry fascinates me, but also lack thereof, as in a foggy day.
